i remember last year, as we left a choir concert in an old catholic church, my palms were slightly sweaty as we drove through a white out down a rural road towards someplace vaguely familiar. relient k’s christmas album ‘let it snow… let it reindeer’ was playing, and i was attempting not to stress out that we couldn’t see the road. so i looked out the side window instead of watching the road and let myself fall into the masochistically comforting lyrics of ‘i hate christmas parties’.

maybe it’s too early, but right now, that’s the album i have on repeat.

it also adorns my ‘x-mas’ playlist along with christmas albums from the almost, dustin kensrue and george frideric handel. and it was this particular playlist that i listened to as i made pumpkin whoopie pies on today’s grey afternoon.

another winner from vegan yum yum’s iphone app, these vegan treats weren’t quite so animal friendly today. i had to substitute things and make believe, as i worked around a carnivorous house with animal friendless materials. but i also just guessed. it calls for 2 tbs of egg replacer, and so i just used one egg white instead [sure, right?]. and when it said “half a container of tofutti better than cream cheese” i said “… how about 8oz of cream cheese and LOTS more powdered sugar?” and it was good enough [8oz made too much, btw.].

i personally am not a huge fan of these, but everyone else who’s tried them are fans – even my friend jordan who is just now learning to like pumpkin. and knowing jordan, i’d say that’s a win.
